OHS Management Systems

Auditing
The NSCAs auditing service offers and independent review of an organisations ability to meet OHS&E legislation and workplace best practise. The NSCA offers a range of audits and certification through a third party to AS/NZS4801, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 standards.
Custom Audits
Where an organisation is operating under their own formal or external audit standard, the audit can be conducted using that standard to provide an independent external audit. The custom audit is designed to meet the specific needs and processes of the organisation.
The process used to audit an OHS&E system includes:
Audit preparation including a review of relevant standards and legislation and the development of audit questionnaires
Review of documented policies, systems, procedures and training programs
Review of operational activities and interviews with employees, supervisors and members of the management team
Preparation of the audit report
A meeting with representatives of the client company to discuss the results of the audit, and if needed,develop an action plan to implement the reported recommended action.
Desktop Audits
The aim of the desktop audit is to provide a cost effective service to clients who want an independent review of critical parts of their OHS&E management system documentation.
The audit normally seeks to:
Assess documentation against relevant standardsand codes of practice
Check relevant documents for internal consistency
Evaluate the effectiveness of selected parts of the management system by review of relevant reports
Identify the objectives of the documentation concerned and applicable reference documents
Identify the layout and operating processes for the site, where relevant
Review the relevant documents on or off site as required.
